Water is the source of life.
The human body can’t survive without water because it keeps it hydrated and regulates the inner cooling system. Also, it takes on the role of eliminating toxins from your body, which makes it an essential drink.
Bear in mind that sugary juices, teas and beverages which contain caffeine don’t hydrate you.
The following signs warn you that your body is lacking water:
1. Recurrence of urinary retention
People who urinate under 2-3 times a day or have not urinated in a few hours, it means that their body needs more water. When you become dehydrated, you may experience liver problems, which leads to further health complications. So, make sure you drink water every day.
2. Dry skin
Is your skin dry even after applying lotion or cream? Whenever your body lacks water, your skin will ”tell” you that. In order to improve the quality of your skin, you should drink water every day. Water will refresh your skin and make it smooth.
3. Cerebral pains
Cerebral pains occur as a result of dehydration. Migraines are also related to lack of consuming water. If you have troubles walking up and down the stairs, it is also a sign that you should increase daily water intake. You should also take healthy drinks like smoothies, lemonades and so on. Take them gradually throughout the day.
4. Dry mouth
The lack of drinking water affects your throat and mouth. Also, certain medications can reduce the amount of saliva which has an important role in your oral health by keeping your mouth wet.
5. The color of your urine has changed
A pale color of your urine is a sign that you have normal hydration, but a darker yellow color indicates that your body lacks water. If the color of your urine is getting darker, make sure you give your body appropriate hydration. But, it is not enough to say drink more water, but drink water properly. This means that by drinking water gradually, your body will recharge the water in all organs.
Do you often feel hungry despite having eaten recently? It is a sign that you lack energy and hydration. We often confuse thirst for hunger. So, next time you feel hunger but you have already eaten, drink a glass of water instead of eating snacks.
The most common cause of dizziness is a temporary shortage of oxygen supply to the brain, which is related to dehydration. Also, avoid long exposure to sunlight.
8. Signs that your are chronically under-hydrated
Don’t ignore the previously mentioned signs of not drinking enough water.
The following health conditions are especially serious which occur as a result of not drinking enough water:
- Urinary tract infections
- Premature aging
- High levels of cholesterol
- Blocked arteries and irregular heartbeat
Doctors say that the adequate intake of water for men is roughly about 13 cups a day, while women should drink about 9 cups a day. Kids and teenagers should drink at least 6 to 8 cups of water a day. However, this also depends on whether you are physically active.
