Apples are the most popular fruit all over the world and you can buy them during every season of the year. They taste great and are very healthy, you know what they say: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
You should be very careful when buying them, because even though it seems impossible, can be something wrong with them.
It is hard to see with the naked eye, but a large number of manufacturers and retailers rub the apples with wax to keep them fresh longer. The wax is used to reduce the respiration but can also cause cancer.
Therefore, you can easily check whether you are buying apples covered with wax or not. Take a bowl and pour boiling water into it, then add a little baking soda and squeeze a lemon into the water. If the apples are covered with wax, the wax will start melting when you put them in a bowl of boiling water.
TIP: You can use toothbrush to remove the wax.
